June 3-5, 2011 ANNUAL MEETING
Our Annual Meeting was held in Sunriver this year. We had an amazing weekend of education, recognition, analysis of the past year, and planning for the next year. Thanks so much to our amazing team for making this event great - we appreciate you all and are so grateful for all you do make Phagans' great! Every year at our Annual Meeting we also have an awards night to honor our outstanding staff and campuses. This year, our top awards went to:

  • Spirit of Giving Award Recognition for Overall Community Support and Involvement: Corvallis Campus
  • Heart of LEO Award for the "Outstanding Educator of the Year" Award, given to an educator who has been with Phagans' for 1-4 years: Tracy Jimenez from the Salem Campus
  • Heart of LEO Award for the "Exceptional Educator of the Year" Award, given to an educator who has been with Phagans' for 5-10 years: Denise Evanoff from the Bend Campus
  • Heart of LEO Award for the "Leading Educator of the Year" Award, given to an educator who has been with Phagans' for 11-20+ years: Kindra Willits from the Medford Campus
  • Knowledge of Morrow Award for recognition of Personal Excellence and the pursuit of knowledge: Connie Kelley from the Bend Campus
  • Customer Satisfaction of the Year Award for Commitment to our Vision of Improving the Self Confidence of our Guests, Students and Staff: Reba Bishop from the Medford Campus
  • Quality Assurance Award for Commitment to Ensuring Excellence in all Operation: Cindy Curran from the Corporate Staff
  • Culture Club Award in recognition by Karen Dieckman for Overall Dedication to our Corporate Values: Katie Bergstrom from the Bend Campus, Amy Gieger from the Corvallis Campus and Sharon Wolf from the Medford Campus
  • Basl Loyalty Award, recognized for Immense Passion & Dedication to our Brand: Donna Johnson from the Corporate Staff
  • Team Leader of the Year Award and was recognized for her Leadership Strengths, Improvements and Goal Achievement: Kindra Willits from the Medford Campus
  • Team of the Year Award in recognition of their Best Team Efforts and Goal Achievement: Medford Campus

May 22, 2011: 1st QUARTER 2011 STUDENT REWARDS DAY
Phil LeeRedken Certified Haircolorist Phil Lee joined select students from all 6 of our campuses as their keynote speaker for this rewards day. Phil has been sought out across the United States and Canada for his easy communication style and well rounded expertise.

May 13, 2011: SPRING MARATHON DAY FOR MISSING AND EXPLOITED CHILDREN
On one of our most successful Marathon Days ever, our six colleges were able to raise $11,436.86 to donate to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children - great job everyone! RIP Leo PassagePhagans' Colleges are proud to be Pivot Point member schools, and we are sad at the news of the passing of Pivot Point founder, Leo Passage on May11th. Pivot Point is the reason we are involved with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. We dedicate this Marathon Day to Leo's memory. Thank you Leo, for your vision and passion and the great impact you had on all of our lives.

WEEKEND OF EDUCATION FOR TOP STUDENTS AND ALL PHAGANS' EDUCATORS!
October 16-17 was an amazing weekend! On Saturday, October 16, 2010, 20 of our top students from all six of Phagans' Campuses spent the day learning from Celebrity Stylist and Educator, Tyson Daniel! These top students were the winners of our 3rd Quarter 2010 Student Rewards Program and earned this great opportunity by being our top achievers in promotions, retail and salon sales. Also on October 16 - 17, 2010, almost all of our Phagans' Educators attended two days of continuing education with Pivot Point International, Nuts & Bolts founder, Jim Yates and Tyson Daniel. At Phagans' we're committed to providing the best cosmetology education to our students, and investing in the skills and knowledge of our Educators is just a part of that commitment.

MARATHON DAY ON OCTOBER 8TH - WE'RE PROUD TO HAVE MADE A DIFFERENCE!
Thanks to the efforts and support of our students, staff and guests, we were able to donate over $9500 to the Susan G. Komen Foundation to help find a cure for breast cancer. Way to go!

The competitions were an important part of our Student Symposium. It was hard work, challenging and lots of fun. We could not be more proud of everyone who took a risk, made the effort and entered. We'd also like to extend a huge thank you to our fabulous judges for the event: Zetta Alley, Professional Stylist at the Bob Shop in Portland; Denise Rydell with Supercuts; Tina Heinl with OPI, Ketty Derrick with Hair Masters.

9/18/10: Bend Campus Staff & Students give 310 Haircuts at Project Connect
Over 30 Phagans' students and Staff members spent their Saturday at the Fairgrounds in Redmond to volunteer for Project Connect. Project Connect provides services to the homeless and displaced workers. Free clothing, medical care, pet care and haircuts were among the services offered all under one roof. We're really proud of everyone who volunteered their time to give back to the community and help those in need.

8/16/10: 2010 Student Symposium: INSPIRATION BY DESIGN!
We'll be closing all six of our campuses on 9/27/10 and transporting all of our current students and staff to Eugene for a day of inspiration and learning.  World famous guest speakers, student competitions, awards and vendors will all be a part of our event.

Best of all, industry icon MICHAEL O'ROURKE will be speaking at this event!  He is one of the most famous icons in the beauty industry right now... he founded Sexy Hair Concepts, the Institute of Courage for Hair Designers and has launched a new product line: "LoveYourHair". Mr. O'Rourke is a highly sought-after platform artist & any professional in the beauty industry would LOVE to get to see him! 

Bend Campus Grand Opening a Huge Success!
Wow! Over 200 people joined us for our Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening celebration event. The Ribbon Cutting with the Chamber of Commerce was followed by an incredible fashion show put on by our students and our fabulous educator, Miss Connie.
